ABOUT

Aug 30-Oct 1, 2017  Wyly Studio Theatre

When tradition is sacred, and change is slow.

In the South, tradition is sacred and change is slow. So when the Civil Rights movement comes to Jackson, Mississippi, it’s in for a brutal fight. Spanning back to the 1960s, Miller, Mississippi tells the story of one family that falls apart as the country attempts to come together. In the classic Southern Gothic tradition, the world premiere of this tragic new play will stun minds and break hearts, as the personal and political combine to bring about the Miller family’s undoing. Contains strong language and mature themes (racism, suicide, sexual abuse and homophobia). Recommended for people High School age and up.

We saw Miller Mississippi last night. A most intelligent script performed superbly by some the best actors anywhere, made for a entertaining and thought provoking evening. Miller Mississippi is an important work that could not be more timely. I feel sorry for those that do not have the opportunity to see this play.
